Library Policy

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these Rules is to stipulate regulations necessary to borrowing and circulation of the Library materials.

 

Article 2 (Restriction of Library Use)

  1. If full-time faculty of the University, 30 books for 180 days or 60 books for 90 days.
  2. If staff of the University or the Ko-Hwang Foundation (including its subsidiaries), 30 books for 180 days.
  3. If part-time faculty, researcher or assistant of the University, 20 books for 30 days.
  4. If graduate students (Masters) of the University, 15 books for 28 days, and if graduate students (Doctorate) of the University, 20 books for 28 days;
  5. If undergraduate students of the University, 7 books for 14 days;
  6. If students of a lifelong education institution or special courses established by the Foundation or the University, 3 books for 14 days; or
  7. Otherwise, if any case as prescribed by the Director of the Library, up to 10 books for 30 days.

 

Article 3 (Renewal)

  1. Checked out materials may be renewed just one time per each book.
  2. Overdue books or reserved books cannot be renewed.
  3. The length of the extended loan period is half of the original loan period.

 

Article 4 (Reservation)

  1. Any users are allowed to reserve to borrow up to 3 items.
  2. When already checked out books are reserved by another patron, the borrower shall return them as soon as possible for any other users.

 

Article 5 (Overdue Fine)

  1. Checked out materials may be renewed just one time per each book.
  2. Overdue books or reserved books cannot be renewed.
  3. The length of the extended loan period is half of the original loan period.

 

Article 6 (Compensation for Damage and Loss of Borrowed Materials)

  1. If checked out book is damaged or lost, even if there exists any unavoidable reasons, it shall be replaced with the same book.
  2. When it is not possible to replace the same book, it shall be replaced with a similar book equal to or more valuable than the lost one, designated by the Director of the Library.
  3. In case that it is not possible to replace the same or similar book, the borrower shall compensate for the loss with the money equivalent to double market prices of the lost one.

 

Addendum

(Enforcement Date) These Rules shall be in force from May 9, 2001.

Article 1 (Purpose)

The purpose of these Rules is to stipulate regulations on the restriction of library use against library users who violate Regulations on the Central Library at Global Campus of Kyung Hee University and Regulations on Student Affairs.

 

Article 2 (Restriction of Library Use)

Any violations arising in relation to use of the Library shall be treated as follows:

1. Steal or Carrying Out of Materials

① Disciplinary measures under the University regulations, or compensation; (Article 26 of the Regulations on the Central Library at Global Campus of Kyung Hee University)

② Suspension of access to and use of the Library for 6 months; or

③ After graduation, suspension of access to the Library for 1 year.

2. Long-term overdue patrons (who hold overdue books for more than 30 days) or Users Who Sub-rent Books

① When holding overdue books for more than 30 days from the due date, suspension of borrowing for 30 days

② In case of long-term overdue patrons, suspension of access to the Library and issuing of any and all certificates until return of overdue books; or

③ If sub-renting borrowed books from the Library, suspension of borrowing for 30 days.

3. Illegal Use of Student ID Card

① 1st violation: borrower and lender of student ID card shall be suspended from borrowing books for a month, and if the borrower is not a member of the University, the lender shall be suspended from borrowing books for 2 months

② 2nd violation: suspension of borrowing for 3 months; or

③ Violation over 3 times: suspension of borrowing for 6 months or suspension of access to the Library for 3 months.

4. Illegal Use of Void Student ID Cards, Borrowers' Cards or Admission Cards

① Immediate withdrawal of void student ID cards, borrowers' cards or admission cards; or

② Restriction of issuing admission cards for a year afterwards.

 

Addenda

1. These Rules shall be in force from June 27, 2000.

2. These Rules shall be in force as amended from March 1, 2004.

 

Article 1. Purpose

  1. The electronic journals and academic databases (hereinafter referred to as "electronic materials") shall be used by the proper procedures, purposes and means specified in the copyright laws and subscription contracts, and violating these are illegal use.
  2. This guideline aims to protect the users of the central library usage restrictions imposed on the users due to the illegal use of electronic materials and the civil liability of the copyright owners.

 

Article 2. Criteria for judging illegal use

  1. Whole Issue Copy
  2. If you download more than the maximum permissible range of 1 day (30 articles the same publisher on the same PC)
  3. Saving and printing through a computer program (Systematic Downloading Printing)
  4. Mass storage beyond the scope of research
  5. Use of stored or printed materials for purposes other than personal research

 

Article 3. User Compliance

  1. Do not download whole package
  2. Download less than 50 electronic materials per day from the same PC and IP
  3. Electronic materials of the same publisher on the same PC and IP Download of 30 or less per day
  4. Prohibit others from using your library ID
  5. Do not upload the downloaded material to your personal homepage, blog, etc.

 

Article 4. Measures for Sanctions

The illegal use of electronic materials can lead to serious consequences such as civil liability and serious degradation of the University's internal and external awareness.

  1. When a publisher requests reimbursement, the illegal user is reimbursed
  2. One-year suspension of library use (loan, reading and electronic materials)
  3. Permanent limitation of library use in case of recurrence of similar cases of the same illegal user
  4. In case of serious violation, the decision of the Central Library Committee shall be followed.

 

Addenda

1. These Rules shall be in force from November 18, 2009.
